ABOUT
Photographer and PhD in Fine Arts (UB) based in Barcelona.
After graduating in Fine Arts in the sculpture and image fields, and obtaining a PhD in Painting, Mónica Lou works as a photographer specialized in dance, and interested in cinema and direction, she studied the Master in Direction of Photography at ESCAC (Catalonia’s Film and Audiovisual University).
I spent my childhood growing up as a ballet dancer, becoming a strict person in front of the mirror: in front of the image. Passionate about contemplation, my curiosity and erudition would lead me to write:
“The subtle figuration of the body: Weightlessness, volatilities and de-figurations”, my research book in which my doctoral thesis concluded.
“What we need is more people specialized in the impossible.”

Tras licenciarse en Bellas Artes en los itinerarios de escultura e imagen, y Doctorarse en Pintura, Mónica Lou trabaja como fotógrafa especializada en danza e interesada por el cine y la dirección, cursa el Máster en Dirección de Fotografía en la ESCAC (Escola de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya).
En la infancia me formo como bailarina, convirtiéndome en un ser exigente ante el espejo: ante la imagen. Apasionada por la contemplación, mi curiosidad y erudición me llevarían a escribir:
“La figuración sutil del cuerpo: Ingravideces, volatilidades y desfiguraciones”, mi libro de investigación en el que concluyó mi tesis doctoral.
“Lo que necesitamos es más gente especializada en lo imposible”.
